6th Grade Leadership Retreat

On Friday, October 5th, Westwood hosted the first annual 6th Grade Leadership Retreat. Over 400 6th grade students from Cheney and Westwood Middle schools attended sessions throughout the day to review expectations and tackle middle school relevant issues. The day began with 7th and 8th grade ASB officers introducing the PACE character traits by sharing an example of what each looks like within the school. Students then attended breakout sessions on Cyber Safety, led by Officer Hembach and Deputy Craig, Managing Emotions led by the middle school counseling team and recognizing their leadership styles led by Assistant Principals and ASB students. To close the day, Westwood 6th graders went through a lesson on being and up-stander at school to prevent bullying behaviors.
