Teacher Brad Guest named Best of the West's Educator of the Year

This award celebrates professional educators from K-12 environments in Cheney and Medical Lake who open student minds and expand the realm of the possibility for the next generation of local and world leaders.

Mr. Guest is a CTE and business education teacher as well as an FBLA advisor. Guest, who has been a member of Westwood staff since 2017, was nominated by Westwood principal Erika Burden and assistant principal Tami Skillingstad, who wrote the following upon his nomination:

“Brad is a phenomenal human being. He models servant leadership in all he does and supports students, staff and families at a level that is unmatched. His positivity and enthusiasm are contagious. In this time of distance learning, he has created numerous videos to help staff, students and parents navigate these uncharted waters. He has provided professional development and served on many committees to help create the best possible programming for our students. He helps teachers and students trouble shoot their tech difficulties; he is one of our go to techies. As a teacher, his organization keeps students and parents up to date on what is coming, what is due and what needs to be addressed. He reaches out to make sure no student is lost along the way. He teaches classes in technology that will help students be successful in a world we can't even imagine will exist. Westwood is so lucky to have such a colleague who is so willing to support the entire community. He has definitely improved our ability as a staff to serve all students.”

Another Westwood staff member, teacher Lucas Jensen, was awarded the honor last year.

Congratulations to Mr. Guest. The District is fortunate that he has chosen to share his expertise with the children of Cheney Public Schools.
