7th grade ELA students have been working with figurative language and different forms of poetry. One of their favorites is the traditional Japanese Haiku. A 3-line Haiku poem has a 5-7-5 syllable count. Haikus will often attempt to capture a moment in time, and the subject is typically nature. Here are some great examples from our 7th grade writers!
