In the counseling center we have been busy helping students learn a variety of new things. We have been running small groups during Pride Time teaching students about empathy. It has been surprising the number of kids who do not know the meaning of empathy. Mrs. Samantha has been running friendship groups during this same time. She is helping students learn to connect with peers and navigate relationships. In social studies classes we work with the NEWESD 101 and our resource officers to teach students about their digital footprint and the importance of cyber citizenship and being safe online.

Coming up soon we will be talking to all students about college and career possibilities. This will apply especially to 8^th grade students who will also be registering for their high school classes during this time. It will be important for 8^th graders to really start thinking about this, as when they register for high school classes this year they will have to choose a path. For example, with a path in business or art, they would register for classes that are specific to those fields. These choices can of course be changed throughout their high school career. There will be more information coming soon about high school registration.
