Mrs. Ferry's 6th grade science students at Westwood Middle School are observing and describing physical changes. Students mixed two liquids and a solid (water, food coloring, and cornstarch) together to observe if a physical change had occurred. After recording their observations, they learned that a substance can behave like a liquid and solid at the same time! The mixture, called "OOBLECK," can flow like a liquid, but also turn solid when touched. Next, students will observe and describe chemical changes by mixing baking soda and vinegar.
